Watery Attempt

A whole semester of watercolour practice, these are some less disastrous ones.
Thank you very much Mr Ng, the class was pure enlightenment.

More Random

Had some very random practice with Alphonsus during the winter break.
We picked random words such as "cold milk" or "marker scorpion" and try to make something out of it.

This is "spring breath". Done with gouache and photoshop.

We end up with a task of "drawing in your most genuine/comfortable style" to see what we can find in it.

It was alot of fun. =)

POP

Another one for my friend/roomate zhen.
Trying some louder colours and a more illustrative line-art approach.

Western FTW

Fell in love with westerns these few years. The imagery in long stretched format, the mood, the palette, the flavor. The Proposition (2009) is my first classic westerns(after several spaghetti westerns), i was totally blown away by the scenes. 

I did the first three with gouache, big one is digital.

Black

Been working in a short for the semester. Mainly inspired by a simple visual treatment of ink spreads that I've always wanted to work on, with an anonymous, dark, stylized character that I've always love, like the proxies in Ergo Proxy.

Being advised that it would be easier to do in 3d, I tried to deal with the medium that I'm not necessarily good at, thanks to Kit that jumped in to help me, otherwise I wouldn't have finish the prototype.

These are some concept work and test renders along the production. Sure learnt alot. 

Some moves!

Been churning out animation tests every week with many other stuff going on.
Good basic practice.



Hope i can throw away my noodling habit asap. (How to achieve accuracy in animating? D:)

Quick stuff

Spent a little time to recap my colour and composition studies. Practice for fun.

My prof seems to like them.

More doodles throughout the holidays.
Still trying to get the anatomy to at least look right.

More extreme poses, more flowing textile, more Hale.

Warm Up

Didn't do much in the holidays other than some fast practice.
A 3 hours fast drawing for my dear junior Vydia's 18 birthday.

I guess the reference to James Jean is too obvious. lol.

And the face is totally stiff.

Finally back to portrait day after a few months.
Feel more confident drawing faces this time, got really lucky and sell 5 pieces yay.

Didn't take any pictures though, have to grab from OIC haha, and the ultra-adorable baby. I've been staring at him for a long time............but i drew his dad instead.

Birthday Frenzy

 Drawing for friends has always been THE motivation. Though they are just simple sketches. 

Weird Pose

Pillow

After a whole sem of training on comic drawing, I wrap it up with a slightly longer final project.

But I didnt manage to come up with a super cool story and ended up doing something pretty new to me.

Cute stuff. =P

But for some reason me and some friends felt that the lined version looks better than the finished one. XD

The toning kind of locked everything down in place, maybe I just need to find the right palette and right method to tone it.

Much much more aware of composition and dynamic angles and pushed further some weird paneling.

Style

Was intended to do a storyboard for Bacher's class, but i got distracted and did some visual development instead. And it was fun =DDD.

Learn ALOT about composition and colour, never struggled so much to construct a scene before. Haha.

Corrected several times to get rid of some disastrous perspective errors.

Interlude

I was intended to slack of this module at first, cause I din really like to do stop motions.
But for some reason Ishu patel got me to play with sand, and for some reason I just dont feel good if i submit some fragmental pieces of test animations.

And so I end up killing myself completing this very short film.
Guess it wasn't too bad. I had some fun in between playing with sand. Just take it as a practice for animation.

RAR one module down!

I did around 12 paintings this semester for the class. Different sizes, some are not that good, but yea! Very nice way to learn oil painting. These are some studies. =D

Its been a while since i post anything.
A short horror comic for comic class.
Never did any before, and it was pretty fun.

Planning something for the comic final....which will probably be an action story....with COLOUR.

Lil improvement, sold two pieces! Aiming for more next moth!

I finally took out the troublesome chinese calligraphy brush n ink. 

Will try to draw directly with pen next time, or try to apply colour, and walk away from extreme realism.
